Recep Tayyip Erdogan University
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University was founded within the framework of the law issued on 17 March 2006 as Rize University, but with another law issued on 11 April 2012, it was renamed as "Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University".
The university's roots in Rize date back to 1 March 1976 when Rize Vocational School was founded. In 1992, the first faculties in our province, Rize Faculty of Theology and Rize Faculty of Fisheries were founded. They were followed by Fındıklı Vocational School (1996), Faculty of Education (1997), and Faculty of Arts and Sciences (1997). Eventually, the university was founded in 2006.
Our university is made up of the following units: Ardeşen Faculty of Tourism, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Theology, Maritime Faculty, Fındıklı School of Applied Sciences, Güneysu School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, School of Foreign Languages, School of Health Sciences, School of Physical Education and Sports, Ardeşen Vocational School, Fındıklı Vocational School, Vocational School of Health Services, Vocational School of Justice, Vocational School of Social Sciences, Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Pazar Vocational School, Institute of Health Sciences, Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, and Institute of Social Sciences.
Today our university has 41 academic units including 3 institutions, 13 faculties, 5 schools, 7 vocational schools, 7 Research and Application Centers and 6 departments linked to the rectorship. The majority of the academic units of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University are related to science or health.
