Rize Vocational School under the Ministry of National Education was established on March 1, 1976 and the same year started training. From July 20, 1987 to March 01, 2006 Vocational school was connected to Black Sea Technical University. In 1998, Our programme ,the department of technical programs, as named 'Textile Confection Programme' started its activities. Rize University was established with the Law on Organization of Institutions of Higher Education, dated 28.03.1983, No. 2809, with it's additional items and with law dated 03.01.2006 No. 5467. Our program which was named Apparel, Clothing, Footwear and Leather department of Rize Vocational High School in Rize University, continued to education till the 2012. Law No. 6287, dated April 11, 2012 made ​​a change in name of University which is being Recep Tayyip Erdogan Üniversity, Technical Sciences Vocational High School, 'Textile, Clothing, Footwear & Leather Department' and continues to education under the this name.

Student which is acquaring successful completion of program with fulfilling its all requirements like 40 business days of the internship program and will be the graduate with associate degree of "Textile technician"

Horizontal Transfer to institutions of higher education for students who will register with the passage of the Regulation is applied.

Horizontal tranfer regulation is applied for the student who will register with horizontal tranfer. In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, recognizing of previous (formal) learning, vertical, horizontal and within the university transitions are carried out within the meaning of the law that is regulation about credit transfer in sutatiation of tranfer assosiate degree to undergraduate programs, double degree program, lateral branch in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Outside of formal educational institutions in Turkey, certificate-based or experience-based non-formal (in-formal and non-formal) learning recognition duration is at beginner stage.

Purpose of program is training textile technician that is needs of industry, having professional knowledge and skill level, adapting easily to technological developments and fine workman and respecting to the national and moral values.

Can work in public and private sector enterprises, as a technical personnel in the textile industry. Also can open their own businesses.

Our graduate students can transfer to bachelor's degree programmes associated with textile ( such as clothing teaching, fashion design, textile engineering department ) by DGS exams.

30% of Midterm exam, 20% of Mid-term study, 50% of final exam gives the grade point average. Grade evaluation system is applied in according to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Üniversity, Assosiate degree and Undergraduate Degree Education and Examination Regulation.

They are registered in the curriculum, have to complete courses, applications, as well as all the requirements of 40 days internship work, successfully according to Rize University, Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations and general average grade point, General Weighted GPA (GPA) must be at least 2.00.

Textile, Clothing, Footwear and Leather Department has got a workshop. In Workshop: 10 pieces of plain sewing machine, 3 pieces overlock machine , 2 pieces boiler iron, 1 piece stitch machine, 1 piece buttonholes machine.
