General Description
History

Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, Ardesen Faculty of Tourism was founded in Rize, Ardesen where has cultural and natural wealth, unique natural touristic features, is a tourism centre. Our faculty was a High School in 2015-16 academic year. Then, the school was transforemed to faculty with law in 2016-17 academic year and received its first students.

Qualification Awarded

Graduates get the degree of bachelor in “Tourism Management” when they fulfill all requirements of the programme and complete the 60 workdays internship training.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

In Turkish higher education institutions, recognition of the previous (formal) education, vertical, lateral and transitions within the university are carried out in accordance with the law “Regulation on transition between associate and undergraduate programs in higher education institutions, the principles of credit transfer between double major, sub-branch and institutions”. There is an exemption examination for the computer and English courses, in the beginning of each academic year. Every student has the right to take the exams. Students who are successful in the examination are exempted from the relevant courses in the course schedule.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students must obtain a grade average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).

Profile of The Programme

In our department, courses that are useful for our students’ profession are given practically and theoretically in tourism management field in the direction of recent developments. Our students who reinforce their theoretical information with internships in tourism sector, are assigned in accommodation, food and beverage and travel agencies and they can improve themselves and reach good levels. Students who want to work in tourism sector, high school graduates, tourism and hospitality managment high schools graduates prefer our department.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates can find positions in private sector institutions such as ; at travel agents, hotel, motel, holiday villages or at central and provincial organizations of Ministry of Culture and Tourism . Our graduates can be assigned in private sector institutions and Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Students who have sufficient professional knowledge, have opportunity to work abroad.

Access to Further Studies

Students who complete bachelor degree, can study at relevant graduate programmes.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students take one mid-term exam and one final exam for each course. To get a passing grade in the course ,the student's total score will be the sum of 40% of mid-term exam grade and 60% of final exam grade.

Facilities

Students have the opportunity to acquire the certificates of some other programs such as Sejour, Amadeus, Galileo after the training period given by the department. Our school has a library, a cafeteria, a canteen, an indoor sports hall, outdoor sports areas, tennis court, wireless internet service, projections in our classrooms and a computer lab where our students com learn using computer and hotel package programs. After the education period in department, students have the opportunity to take the exams of some package programs (Elektra) to get the certification.
