General Description
History

The Turkish Teacher Education Program is one of the programs of the Faculty of Education, founded in 1997, and started educational activities in the fall semester of the 2012 to 2013 academic year.

Qualification Awarded

The students who have successfully completed all of courses of the programme with 240 ECTS credits and achieved a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are given BachelorDegree in PRIMARY SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER EDUCATION.

Specific Admission Requirements

1 - To have a high school and their equivalents diploma, 2 – To obtain sufficient grades at the university entrance exam conducted by Turkish Republic, Assessment, Selection and Placement Center

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Recognition of prior formal learning, vertical, horizontal and transitions within the university in institutions of the Turkish Higher Education are carried out under the basis of regulation of Transferring Between Programs of the Higher Education Associate Degree and Degree-Level, Double Major, Minor and Making Credit Transfer Inter-Agency defined by The Council of Higher Education. Except formal education institutions, the process of recognition of non-formal certificate based and experience based learning is still in its early stage in Turkey. For this reason recognition of prior learning in all programs in Recep Tayyip Erdogan University is not fully initialized. However, an exemption exam is held for the Computer, English and German courses which take place in the programmes' education schedule at the beginning of each academic term. The students who consider they are suitably qualified have the right to take these exams. Successful students are exempt from the relevant courses.

Profile of The Programme

The aim of the Turkish Language Teaching program is to give students the basic knowledge, skills and abilities that will be required in their professional lives, to combine theoretical training and professional experience, can create a role model for the students in personal and professional lives, which closely follows developments in the field, time-management and effective communication skills, adherence tothe rules of scientific ethics, are aware of lifelong learning, train Turkish teachers to be sensitive to people, society and nature.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Turkish Education program graduates graduate with the title of "Turkish Teacher" to the public and private educational institutions under the Ministry of National Education are appointed.

Access to Further Studies

As long as candidates, who successfully complete the undergraduate degree, obtain the valid points from ALES and have adequate English language skills, can study at postgraduate level (masters and doctoral).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Each student is subject to a midterm exam, and a final end of term exam, with contributions of 40% and 60%. All exams are assessed out of 100. Obtaining 45 from the final end of term exam is obligatory. Students who have the grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) from one lesson are successful. At the end of each semester, students can take make-up examinations from all courses belonging to the semester.

Graduation Requirements

Which is available in the program (240 ECTS credits) Upon successful completion of all the courses and who achieved a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 students, "Turkish Education" is awarded a Bachelor Degree.

Facilities

In the Turkish Education Programme, there is a total of 7 teaching staff: 2 assistant professors, 2 research assistants, 3 lecturers. The students who have successfully completed all of courses on the programme with 240 ECTS credits, and achieved a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are given a Bachelor Degree in TURKISH TEACHER EDUCATION. Students who graduated successfully have the qualifications to be employed as science and technology teachers, in both public and private primary schools.
